Max Verstappen did not have his weekend in Baku, unlike teammate Sergio Perez. Helmut Marko confirmed that the two-time world champion struggled with the handling of his RB19 during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Marko on Verstappen's problems

"He had to experiment with the set-up of his car until the end to get the best out of it, and only then could he follow Sergio's pace," Marko said in conversation with ORF. Still, Red Bull Racing managed to pull off the victory. "Compliments to Sergio, he was fast from the start and made no mistakes. An optimal race," Marko added.

While the Red Bulls disappeared on the horizon, Charles Leclerc had no chance to keep up with the pace with his Ferrari car. "At some moments we were up to a second faster," Marko states. "Sergio asked if he should slow down. Max should have done the same, but we said no. You could see they were always fighting for the fastest lap."

In the end, it was George Russell who ran away with the extra point for the fastest lap after a late change to softs. "Then you have no chance, but we let them go full out. That was the speed we had at the end," Marko said.
