Helmut Marko has confirmed that Adrian Newey has indeed signed a new contract at Red Bull Racing. Speaking to the German Sport1, Marko stated that Newey's staying on speaks volumes about Red Bull's atmosphere and ambitions.

No sign of Newey leaving

Earlier this week, rumours emerged that Newey would extend his period at Red Bull. The British engineer's contract expires at the end of this season, prompting speculation that Newey might seek refuge with another team. Marko, however, makes it clear that that is not the case.

"Adrian Newey's contract extension shows that we continue to build continuity and that there is an extremely pleasant working atmosphere here," explains the Red Bull advisor. "Adrian has been with us for 17 years, and although it is not a contract for life, he has always had, and will continue to receive, attractive offers from competitors. I certainly hope and know he will retire with us."

Newey is the most successful designer of Formula 1 cars. In total, the cars he has designed have accounted for 11 titles among constructors and 12 among drivers. Since 2006, Newey has been involved with Red Bull, for which he created the championship-winning cars of Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen. Before that, he designed the winning cars of Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve and Mika Häkkinen.
