Sergio Perez says Red Bull Racing have Max Verstappen and him fighting for the championship. The two are very close. The difference between the Dutchman and the Mexican is just six points. Perez told Sky Sports that the Dutchman will not be put ahead.

"I think we've been treated equally. I've had as much opportunity as Max, especially now at the start of the season where we are both fighting," Perez said. "The team are letting us fight and they've shown when we are fighting as we did in Jeddah and Baku, they let us race. I think Red Bull are showing how it should be and how a team should behave in these situations." added the Guadalajara-born driver.

Red Bull treats Perez and Verstappen equally

Still Red Bull has not used team orders when it comes to the battle between the two top drivers. For now, the title battle is between the two Red Bull drivers. Between Perez and number three Alonso are a whopping 27 points.

Christian Horner indicated earlier that neither driver will be favoured over the other. Both Verstappen and Perez will therefore have to win the championship entirely on their own merits. Helmut Marko has also revealed that he is happy with the decision not to give team orders.
