Spectacle on the track is expected, but off the track appears to be less so. Compared to last year, when the Florida race was the highlight of the racing calendar, organisers fear empty grandstands in Miami this edition, German medium BILD reported.
Many fans can financially afford only one Formula 1 race per season. After it was previously revealed that tickets to visit the Miami Grand Prix were on the expensive side, criticism was already coming from fans.
Las Vegas much more attractive
The German medium reports that many more spectators are opting for the race in Las Vegas. Top-class motorsport on the famous strip of the gambling metropolis seems a much more attractive image than Miami's fake water and port.
In a sort of desperate move, organisers of the Miami Grand Prix have now released discounts of 40 per cent on tickets. So for the quick decider, tickets are still available.
