Ocon wants to win: 'Won't be fighting for these positions for long'

Esteban Ocon has now started his fourth season at Alpine. The Frenchman has yet to receive a winning car from his team, but argues that battles that are not for first position are also interesting. Ocon expects to be able to compete at the front in the future.
Ocon has had a seat with the French team since 2020, but is yet to have a great car. The Alpine driver did win one race, but unfortunately for him this was more down to luck than pure speed. In the future, Ocon hopes to have a shot at the world title.
Alpine not fighting at the front
Alpine has been fighting for the last spots in the points in recent years and on a good day the French team is 'best of the rest'. Despite his team not fighting for podiums or more now, Ocon hopes to win the world title in the future. "We always think we are the best. That's how it is in Formula 1. One day we all are going to have a shot at winning the title. That's what I'm definitely hoping for," Ocon said at the press conference in Miami.
Ocon wants to compete at the front
Alpine has made little progress in recent years but Ocon says this will soon change. "There are interesting fights also, not only for P1 but for the other teams it's very close, just behind for a lot of positions. It can swing all the way and there can be some big fights in there. So far that's where we are, but I'm sure it's not going to stay for a very long time like that.”
