Power Rankings Miami: Verstappen second, Alonso scores almost perfect
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen won the Miami Grand Prix from ninth starting position after making a mistake in qualifying, earning the second spot in the Power Rankings on the official Formula 1 website. Fernando Alonso secured the first spot with a near-perfect score.
Formula1.com's five-judge panel gave Alonso a 9.6 for his performance in Miami. Alonso finished second in the chaotic qualifying session and drove to third in a lonely race. With his fourth podium in five races, Alonso continues his excellent start to the season.
Verstappen on P2
Following Alonso, Verstappen comes second with a 9.0 rating from the judges. According to the analysts, the Dutchman was in a league of his own all weekend, only the fact that he did not set a time in Q3 cost the Dutchman a higher score.
After Verstappen comes George Russell in third place with 8.8, the young Briton was faster than his teammate Lewis Hamilton this weekend and finished in a fine fourth position. This is followed by Kevin Magnussen and Sergio Perez in fourth and fifth positions respectively. The Dane gets an 8.2 for his performance in Miami and Perez gets a 7.8.
In the standings, where the average is taken of all scores, the top three remain the same with Alonso ahead of Verstappen and then Perez. Russell has passed his teammate Hamilton due to his good weekend and is therefore now in fourth position.
