Hamilton talks about the end of his career

Lewis Hamilton has still not signed a new contract with Mercedes. The seven-time world champion is expected to extend his contract at the German racing stable. The Briton thought about ending his career at either McLaren or Ferrari, but is currently happy to be at Mercedes, he told ESPN.
The Mercedes driver is far from thinking of quitting."I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I'm not in the downhill slope of my career, I am in my prime," Hamilton said. "It all depends on how hard I want to work and keep myself in my prime, in terms of physical and mental capability," the 38-year-old champion believes. He sees Tom Brady and LeBron James as examples of top athletes who managed to stay at a high level for a long time.
He still has one big dream: to take that eighth world title and be a record champion in Formula 1. Despite being in negotiations with Mercedes, the driver knows that that eighth title in German service could be a tough story. Mercedes is behind the times and far from a championship-winning car.
But when the time comes to retire, where would Hamilton like to end his career? "I'd be lying if I said I'd never thought about ending my career anywhere else," the man from Stevenage tells us. "I started at McLaren, I'd like to think I'll always be a part of the McLaren family. I thought about what it would look like if I was at McLaren one day." His thoughts of McLaren will be sweet. After all, he won his first world title in British service.
But there is another possible final destination, as those red overalls would not be out of place for the Tommy Hilfiger model either, he considers himself. "I thought about and watched the Ferrari drivers on the screens at the track and of course you wonder what it would be like to be in red." But the fact remains, nothing beats home. "Then I look at my current team and think, this is my home. I'm happy where I am. I haven't signed a contract yet, but we are working on one."
