This weekend's Grand Prix in Imola is scheduled for the time being. The area has been ravaged by severe weather. Max Verstappen hopes everyone in the affected area is fine and is looking forward to the weekend in Italy.
Verstappen is currently leading the World Xhampionship and the Dutchman is obviously hoping to consolidate this lead in Imola, if the race weekend goes ahead. Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, which includes Imola, has been hit by severe weather. Streets and even motorways are flooded and the Formula 1 paddock is also under water. So it remains to be seen whether the Grand Prix weekend will go ahead.
Verstappen on situation in Imola
Of course, the two-time World Champion has also caught on to the emergency situation in and around Imola. The Dutchman hopes above all that everyone is okay in the affected area. "The weather has obviously been really bad there though and I know it is something that is being closely monitored. I hope everyone is okay," the Dutchman said in a Red Bull Racing press release.
'Great track'
In 2021 and 2022, Verstappen managed to win the Grand Prix in Imola and hopes to do so again this year. "I’m looking forward to racing in mainland Europe again, it's been a while. Imola is a great track and I always enjoy driving there. Let’s see what we can do this weekend."
