Formula 1 donates one million to victims in Emilia-Romagna
Formula 1 has donated one million euros to the emergency services in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. The region was hit by severe weather in recent days, leading to the cancellation of the Grand Prix scheduled to be held there this weekend.
The Italian region experienced massive rainfall. As a result, streets but also highways were flooded. The paddock at the circuit in Imola was also flooded. Many people had to leave their homes and people died.
F1 donates one million
Ferrari earlier donated one million euros to the victims of the storm and Formula 1 is following suit. Stefano Domenicali, F1's CEO, grew up in the affected Italian region himself.
"We must do everything we can to support them at this difficult time and that is why we are donating to help support the relief efforts on the ground. My thoughts, on behalf of the entire Formula 1 community, are with everyone affected and we want to thank the emergency services for their incredible work," says Domenicali at Formula1.com.
Formula 1 will be making an immediate €1m donation to the Emilia-Romagna Region's Agency for Territorial Safety and Civil Protection to support the communities affected by the flooding in the region.
