'Talks between Ferrari and Leclerc over contract extension progress'
- Toby McLuskie
Charles Leclerc and Ferrari are said to have reached the next stage for a contract extension for the Monegasque, reports Formu1a.uno. Leclerc is now driving his fifth season for the Scuderia, and his current contract expires at the end of 2024.
Leclerc is having a disappointing start to the season at Ferrari. In the first three races, the driver crashed out twice and, as a result, the Monegasque had only six points after three races. In Baku, the fourth race of the season, he seemed to be on the way up with two pole positions and a podium, but in Miami, Leclerc had another disappointing weekend. The Ferrari driver crashed hard in Q3 and did not move beyond seventh position in the race.
Contract extension Leclerc?
Leclerc signed a million-dollar contract at Ferrari at the end of 2019, linking the Monegasque with the Italian racing stable until 2024. Italian medium Formu1a.uno reports that talks on a new contract between the two parties are progressing. The Ferrari driver has been linked to Mercedes several times in recent weeks, but denies these rumours himself.
