'Every lap was important in free practice, we understand the car'
Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso can look back on the first two free practice sessions of their weekend in Monaco with satisfaction. Both drivers are satisfied with the car they started with in the principality.
Alonso picked up the second fastest time in his first free practice, and in the second free practice he finished fourth. Stroll finished ninth in the first practice, and closed the second practice with an 11th place. In this respect, the first two practice sessions offer a good reflection of the Aston Martin season so far.
Alonso: 'Easy to drive'
"It was important to find a rhythm early this weekend and avoid any issues. In both sessions the car felt good and it's easy to drive which helps at this circuit," Alonso told an Aston Martin press release after the first two free practice sessions.
"Every lap mattered in practice today: it's such a short lap around Monaco, it's always tricky to pull everything together, but we got some good running in today and we learned a lot," Stroll said in the same Aston Martin press release.
