'Wolff thinks seat for Schumacher will be difficult next year'
Mick Schumacher lost his seat in Formula 1 last winter. The former Haas driver saw compatriot Nico Hulkenberg make his final comeback in the premier class, in his seat. Since then, Schumacher junior has been third driver at Mercedes, Toto Wolff's team.
The Austrian hopes to see the young German back in Formula 1 as soon as possible, but thinks it could be difficult. "He deserves a seat, but it will be very difficult for next year," the team boss argues. Many drivers are also still fixed for next year, making it unlikely that a spot will become available for Mick Schumacher. "In 2025, a number of doors will open again," states Wolff. The Austrian is keeping his eye on Williams, where he expects there to be a possible opportunity for Michael's son.
Lurking danger
Yet Wolff also guards against too much interference on his part. "If we support him too much, others only want to make it harder. Who then suddenly come crawling out of their hole," the Mercedes boss cryptically stated.
