Leclerc penalised for incident with Norris during Monaco GP qualifying
Charles Leclerc has been penalized by the stewards for an incident during qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix in which he drove into Lando Norris. The Ferrari driver will be put back three places on the grid and will have to start his home race from sixth position.
Leclerc penalized for Norris incident
After hearing both sides of the story and reviewing all the data, the FIA stewards concluded that Norris was clearly impeded by Leclerc. As a side note, there was little the Monegasque could have done to prevent it, given the difficult visibility in the tunnel.
Moreover, the stewards argue that Leclerc reacted correctly to the blue flags, but at that point it was already too late. They also argue that it was up to Ferrari to warn Leclerc of Norris' approaching McLaren, but that the team failed to do so. However, in line with similar cases in the past, the stewards had no choice but to impose the usual grid penalty of three places.
