Verstappen enjoyed unpredictable Monaco GP: "Clipped the wall a few times"
Max Verstappen recorded a convincing victory in the Monaco Grand Prix, despite the chaos caused by rain in the final stages of the race. Afterwards, the Red Bull Racing driver said he enjoyed the unpredictable race.
For a while, it seemed to be a somewhat predictable race, but the devil was in the tail. Late in the race, the now unsuspected rain came, causing the necessary chaos. However, Verstappen had a great time in the tricky conditions.
Verstappen enjoyed a difficult race
"It was quite a difficult one because we were on the medium and Fernando was on the hard. We didn't want to go that long but we had to stay out with the rain coming," explained the reigning world champion.
He continued: "The tyres were graining, and then the pace picked up a little bit, but it was still very tricky to drive. Then it started to rain, and we had to make the call to go onto the interest."
Verstappen says he hit the wall a few times because the track was so slippery. "It was incredibly slippery and when you are that far in the lead you don't want to push to hard but also you don't want to lose too much time so it's quite difficult in that scenario. I clipped the wall a few times and it was super difficult out there. But that's Monaco," said the race winner.
