Vasseur disagrees with Sainz over pit stop: 'It was the right decision'
Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur disagrees with Carlos Sainz when it comes to the Spaniard's pit stop in Monaco. The Spaniard had to change his tyres halfway through the race, but he still wanted to stay out because he was battling Esteban Ocon.
The Spaniard, who had started on hard tyres, complained over the radio about his team's decision. He fought to snatch third place from Ocon. But that did not come to pass in the end. The frustrated Ferrari driver disagreed with the strategy to bring him in.
Vasseur disagrees with Sainz
Vasseur remains behind his team's decision. "I think it was a good strategy because when we asked him to pit, it was to avoid losing position to Lewis Hamilton. Positions are important at this circuit. It was the gamble for us, the risk was not too big because we did not lose position, but that's how it is," Vasseur told Marca.
"We knew very well on the grid that if we wanted to achieve something, we had to take risks. I am not at all disappointed with the risks we took."
