Leclerc: 'We will see a lot of pit stops, we have our chances that way'
Charles Leclerc rather disappointed in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix with a 19th time. The Monegasque looks ahead to a tricky race for him. Leclerc expects tyre management and pit stops to play a huge role in the race. He tells this in a press briefing with GPblog and others.
"It's going to be an uphill weekend, to be honest. But on the other hand, it's a track where I think we'll see quite a few stops. Degradation is going to be a big thing tomorrow, so if we do a good job on that, we've got our chances."
Leclerc not downcast
Despite Leclerc's 19th time, Ferrari could be very pleased with Carlos Sainz's performance. He will start from the front row of the grid during the race, in second place. Ferrari came to Barcelona with some updates. Leclerc is happy with those so far. "It was a small step forward, which is what we expected. That was good," said the Ferrari driver.
"For tyre deg, yesterday, our race pace maybe looked a little bit better than normal, apart from the Red Bull that are in a league of their own. But let's wait and see tomorrow, because yesterday we didn't know the fuel level of everybody. So it's very difficult to compare." Leclerc added.
