F2 feature race | Bearman wins from pole, Verschoor in points
- Cas van de Kleut
Oliver Bearman has won the feature race in Formula 2 in Barcelona. The Briton driving for the Prema team managed to turn his main race into victory after finishing seventh in the sprint race.
The feature race, unlike Saturday's sprint race, was dry. Bearman was in pole position, with Enzo Fittipaldi and Jack Doohan behind him. Ayumu Iwasa, starting in fourth place, moved into third place before Turn 1, which meant Bearman, Fittipaldi and Iwasa were also three through Turn 1. Fittipaldi had to take the escape road here. Iwasa was then overtaken by Theo Pourchaire and Jack Doohan later on the first lap.
Exciting fight for podium
The fight for third place was very exciting. Championship leader Frederik Vesti, who started from eighth place, managed to drive forward through an alternative strategy to battle Iwasa and Victor Martins at the end. The latter passed the Japanese on the 35th lap, pushing Martins into third place. Vesti made many attempts to overtake Iwasa in the following laps, but in vain.
Bearman wins
Bearman managed to take the win without many problems. Martins managed to get close to Fittipaldi at the end of the race, but the Brazilian retained second place, allowing the Frenchman to finish third. Vesti did not get further than fifth place, but he despite that runs ahead of number two Theo Pourchaire, who finished only seventh.
