Horner challenges Rosberg: 'You're not in the car, but happy to criticise'
- Toby McLuskie
Sky Sports analyst and former F1 champion Nico Rosberg shares with Christian Horner his criticism of Sergio Perez and disagrees with the Red Bull Racing team boss. Horner has his heart on his sleeve and thinks it is easy talk for Rosberg.
Indeed, in front of Sky Sports' cameras after the Spanish Grand Prix, Horner summed up Perez's race as a fine one. Starting from P11, the Mexican got through the field, but the podium proved unattainable. Max Verstappen dominated the weekend and scored a grand slam. The Dutchman was more than 20 seconds clear of Lewis Hamilton on P2.
Horner challenges Rosberg
Rosberg responded to Horner's explanation: "You were saying he [perez] did a good race, but I think he had a lack of performance, especially in the early part of the race, comparing to Max there was quite a gap." Horner thinks for a moment, but does not swallow his words and serves Rosberg with a sharp reply.
Horner: "You are quite a critical kind of guy, you're tough on these guys! Now you're not in the car, you are happy to criticise all the guys." Horner then continued in substance: "Checo, his race got stronger and stronger and that last stint he was coming back very strong. Just not enough laps to fight for the podium"
