The 100th edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours has begun. A part of the more than 13-kilometre circuit is wet, which caused a crash immediately. Toyota took the lead from Ferrari, while the Jack Aitken crashed on lap one already.

Toyota takes over lead

In the hypercar class, the Ferraris started one and two, with two behind them the two Toyotas. The ranking shifted slightly after the start. The Ferraris fell back to second and fourth positions and Toyota is now driving two cars on the podium.

The conditions are tricky at the start of the 24-hour race. Jack Aitken, who has also driven in Formula 1, lost control of his car at a traction zone and went into the wall. In doing so, the Briton broke the suspension of his car. A car was also stuck in the gravel, causing the safety car to come out.
