When is the next Formula 1 race?

The next Formula 1 race is the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix. This event will take place at Hungaroring and will be held from July 21, to July 23. It is a normal Grand Prix weekend, so it will use the regular format we see for the majority of the season. There will be two free practice sessions on Friday before a final practice session Saturday morning. Later in the day, qualifying will take place, which will set the grid for the race itself on Sunday.

After the Hungarian Grand Prix, Formula 1 goes back-to-back with the Belgian Grand Prix on the weekend of 28th-30th of July at Spa-Franchorchamps. After the race at Spa concludes, Formula then heads to a summer break. Teams and drivers will experience no action for three weekends in a row. F1 will return on August 25 for practice at the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. The Italian Grand Prix takes place one week after that.

The 2023 Formula 1 season so far

Max Verstappen already has a healthy lead in the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship. The Red Bull Racing driver has scored 255 points so far. His nearest rival, also his teammate, Sergio Perez, is 99 points behind. As a result, Red Bull Racing also have a healthy lead in the Constructors World Championship with 411 points. Mercedes are in second place with 203 points. The complete standings for the Drivers' World Championship are here, and those for the Constructors' World Championship are here

The 10 races completed in the 2023 World Championship have all been won by Red Bull drivers. Verstappen has secured eight wins, with Perez winning the other two. Both drivers have also won a sprint race each, at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and this weekend at the Austrian Grand Prix. The battle for the World Championship is between Verstappen and Perez, but it seems like the Dutchman has by far the best chance.

Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin have made significant gains this season. The 41-year-old driver has been on the podium six times already and has been one of the most consistent drivers on the whole grid. He is renewing his old rivalry with Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. The seven-time World Champion is 16 points behind his former teammate in the World Championship after his performance at Silverstone, but Mercedes are still looking stronger after their upgrades. George Russell is also in this battle but has dropped back significantly after a DNF in Canada. Russell is now back above Leclerc, and one point shy of Sainz's total.

Alonso's teammate Lance Stroll is eighth in the World Championship after a much quieter start. After finding form in recent races, Alpine's Esteban Ocon and McLaren's Lando Norris round out the top 10. The Brit is putting on more and more pressure after his P2 in Silverstone
