Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll, mostly criticised for getting an F1 seat too easily, will try to get on the podium in his home country next weekend. Whether the Canadian will take the honours at the Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve remains to be seen.

If it is up to Lawrence Stroll's son, a podium finish in Canada is not out of the question. "If we put everything together and have a good pace, it is possible. If Mercedes does again what they did, and Ferrari and Red Bull do what they did, it will be difficult. So we definitely need to work on some things and come back stronger," Stroll reported to RaceFans.net.

Stroll with podium finish in Canada?

"I thought it would be possible when we finished third, but we just didn't have the pace," he continued. The 24-year-old driver eventually finished sixth. With the modifications Mercedes has made, it is difficult to say whether Aston Martin and Lance Stroll specifically, has a chance of a podium finish in North America.

The recently revamped Mercedes finished second and third with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in a safety car-free race in Spain after starting fourth and 12th. In the battle for the constructors' championship, Aston Martin is 18 points behind Mercedes.
