FIA seeks solution in Canada: extending FP2 is among options

The FIA and F1 are looking at the possibility of extending the second free practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix. The problems during the first free practice at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve have still not been fixed.

Problems are piling up in Canada, where CCTV problems are causing a red flag after just a few minutes into the session. No one has yet driven more than two laps, and with the threat of rain, this is anything but ideal for teams and drivers.
The FIA informs that the CCTV is not correctly synchronised, and as long as that problem is there, no racing can take place. The session cannot be extended either, as rules require a minimum of 2.5 hours between the first and second free practice sessions. However, the FIA is looking at the possibility of extending the second free practice session later today. You won't miss anything from FP1 in Canada with this live blog from GPblog.
UPDATE - 19:21
Not much later, the FIA and F1 announced that the second free practice session will indeed be extended by half an hour. The second free practice starts at 21:30 BST and will finish at the same time as scheduled.
