Max Verstappen is looking forward to the Canadian Grand Prix with great confidence. Speaking to Viaplay, he looked ahead to his chances in Montreal ahead of the weekend.

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a favourite circuit of Verstappen's. Although the Red Bull Racing driver has only managed to win once in Canada, he is a big fan of the track himself. ''I think it is nice here, a bit old school in terms of kerbstones, they haven't changed them in recent years. It gives a go-kart feeling when you drive over those chicanes. That always remains nice.''

Opportunities for Verstappen

As for his chances for this weekend, the Dutchman also sees few obstacles. ''Normally I think okay. You have a lot of fast straights. I think our car is really strong there this year, only we also have to make sure we can go well over the kerbstones in those chicanes. That was a bit the problem for us in Monaco. Hopefully the straights will straighten that out here.''

The first free practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix has now been held, but it was not driven for long. Due to problems with the CCTV, the drivers only completed four laps. Verstappen was also in the pit box for a long time. The second free practice session has now been extended by half an hour, though. As a result, it starts as early as 22:30 Dutch time.
