New Aston Martin upgrades for Canada: ‘Physically our biggest’
Aston Martin have lost in their battle in Barcelona against their closest rivals, as they finished in P6 and P7, while the two Mercedes and Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari finished in front of them, and neither Alonso nor Stroll were close to challenging them. For the Canadian Grand Prix, the British racing stable have brought a big upgrade package of the season.
During Friday’s press conference, Aston Martin’s technical director, Dan Fallows, said that they have bought their biggest upgrade yet. "We've looked at concentrating on broadening that operating window of the car and that's particularly what we're focused on with these updates," the Briton said.
The technical director also underlined the importance of improving throughout the year. "I think actually visibly it's probably the biggest update that we've produced but in truth, we have been trying to produce updates for the majority of the races. We have this sort of idea of continual improvement and that's what we're aiming at really. So we have focused on other areas of the car before but yeah from the sort of visual I suppose the actual physical size of it this is physically our biggest update," he continued.
While at the moment, Red Bull have a bigger gap at the front, Fallows is excited by the battle for second place in the constructors’ championship. "You know how nip and tuck it is Mercedes and Ferrari. I think that's exciting on the one hand I suppose but I think it is particularly great for the fans to see that kind of battle going on for the second place. From our point of view we have to focus on our own performance," Fallows concluded.
