Full results FP2 Canada | Hamilton surprises with fastest time
- Toby McLuskie
The Friday of the Montreal Grand Prix weekend is over. Due to lost time in FP1, 30 minutes were added to the second free practice session. In Friday's second and final session in Canada, Lewis Hamilton was the fastest man on track.
The extra-long FP2 was interrupted twice by a red flag. The first time was caused by Nico Hulkenberg's popped engine, shortly after which the session was halted again by Esteban Ocon's stalled Alpine. During the session, there was a chance of rain, but the showers only reached the track in the final minutes of practice. This briefly gave the teams a chance to test track conditions on intermediates. Times were no longer improved and eventually, the top three was formed by Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Carlos Sainz.
