Possible penalty for Sainz after holding up Albon in FP3
- Toby McLuskie
There may be a penalty over the head for Carlos Sainz. At 20:15, the Spaniard had to report to the stewards for holding up car 23, that of Alexander Albon. The Thai also had to report, to make his explanation to the stewards.
It happened on two occasions when Albon complained over the board radio about Sainz being held up in the final chicane. The second time it happened, the Williams driver told his team that the incident should be reported to the stewards.
Possible penalty for Sainz
So now both drivers have to report to the stewards, and so Sainz may face a penalty. After the crash in the third free practice session, a penalty would be especially sour for the Spaniard, who has driven less in the rain than his fellow drivers.
