Horner: 'In every condition Max was on top of the circuit'
Christian Horner has it exceptionally well again with one Red Bull Racing car. Max Verstappen will start the Canadian Grand Prix from pole position on Sunday. According to the Briton, the Dutchman was fastest each time.
It was three qualifying sessions that all posed their own challenges. In Q1, the track was wet but not raining hard. In Q2 it was very changeable and in Q3 it was already raining hard at the start and only got worse. It turned into a hectic session in Montreal, but Verstappen kept his cool and took pole.
Horner praises Verstappen
After qualifying, Viaplay spoke to Horner: "No, in those conditions it’s never easy, as you well now. What was outstanding about Max today, was that in every condition he was on top of the circuit, he was on top of his game. He was just quickest, quickest, quickest. An incredible job by him today."
For Perez, things did not go so well. Unlike Verstappen, the Mexican was actually late with his tyres every time: "Very frustrating for him, but it’s a track, unlike Monaco, where you can race at. So the grid is a little bit mixed up for tomorrow’s race."
