Drivers' Standings after Canadian GP | Verstappen does great business again
Max Verstappen gave Red Bull Racing their 100th F1 victory, but more importantly for the 25-year-old Dutchman, he has once again moved up a notch in the battle for the world championship. Verstappen picked up 25 points, where teammate Sergio Perez did not go beyond sixth place.
The gap between Verstappen and Perez is 69 points after eight GPs. Red Bull's Mexican sees his current second place in the World Championship further jeopardised by Fernando Alonso's second-place finish in Montreal. The gap between Perez and Alonso has shrunk to nine points.
Lewis Hamilton leads his teammate George Russell, who crashed out with brake problems. This also benefits the two Ferrari drivers. Carlos Sainz even passed Russell in the World Championship standings.
