Verstappen pinpoints problem in Canada: 'That's working against us today'
Verstappen has won the Canadian Grand Prix, marking his 41st victory. The Dutchman looks back at this unique achievement with Viaplay after the Canadian Grand Prix.
''It all went fine in itself, but it was very difficult on the tyres because it was very cold today. Every time, the tyres were on the edge of being too cold. That's why the times went up and down. One lap they were just okay and then too cold again. That made it very tricky, especially on that hard tyre,'' the Dutchman told Viaplay.
Verstappen wins again
Verstappen was quick to let his team know he was not happy with the tyre. ''At least then they know that we are not going to do a one-stop. That I didn't want to do another run on that tyre either. That's why we went to medium. I just had a better feeling on those tyres.''
Verstappen already revealed that this might not have been the best race for the team and now explains why. ''Normally we are very good on the tyres and I think that worked against us today. When it is very cold you actually want a car that is very aggressive on the tyres. In the end, we still win it by a lot of seconds.''
As for the statistics, Verstappen, as usual, is not worried. ''I'm not concerned with that at all. I just want to win. Hopefully a lot more this year, of course.'' Verstappen made another mistake in the race, but was able to laugh about it himself. ''I hit the kerb wrong, but you learn from that,'' the Red Bull driver concluded.
