Haas F1 have a little jab at De Vries for mistake during overtake
Nyck de Vries did not experience his best Grand Prix of the season in Canada. The AlphaTauri driver had to drive towards the top ten from the back, but that did not go so easily. In a duel with Kevin Magnussen midway through the race, the Dutchman was perhaps just a little too enthusiastic, and the admin of Haas F1's Twitter page thinks so too.
Both drivers hit each other as early as turn 2, but neither man pulled out of the fight. De Vries tried to brake extremely late for the next corner, too late. He braked and shot straight on, as did Magnussen.
Magnussen and De Vries then had to go into reverse and lost dozens of seconds. The Dutchman did not make a pit stop, Magnussen did. The two met again on the track on lap 46, and then the Haas F1 driver passed his rival without a problem.
