Marko sees strong package Red Bull: 'Good chassis, engine and best driver'
- Toby McLuskie
The combination of Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing is currently untouchable, but rival Formula 1 teams are creeping closer. However, Red Bull is not sitting still either, Helmut Marko stressed.
Aston Martin was already well ahead, but with the latest updates, Mercedes and Ferrari also seem to have made a move. How far they can close the gap will be seen in the coming races. At the same time, Red Bull is also busy further developing the RB19, despite the wind tunnel penalty imposed on the team by the FIA.
Marko: 'We have a strong package'
"We have a strong package. A good chassis, a strong engine ánd the best driver," Marko is quoted by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. The Red Bull advisor sees the two-time world champion capable of winning races even if the team does not have things perfectly in place in terms of set-up.
Verstappen dominated the Grand Prix weekend in Canada, but there was no big margin like in the Spain GP this time, Max Verstappen himself noted. "I definitely had to push more than manage here," says the Dutchman. He adds that the RB19 is generally very good at high tyre degradation, but it was a bit trickier at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
"The last 10 or 15 laps I saw that I had a good margin and didn't have to go push as much. But you can't hold back too much either, because then you lose too much temperature in the tyres again. I wasn't worried today, but I was alert," the championship leader concluded.
