Hamilton's father came to watch GP Canada: 'I want to be like him'

Lewis Hamilton ended his Grand Prix of Canada, like one Grand Prix before it, on the podium. The Briton says it was not the only victory of the weekend. The father the Mercedes driver, Anthony Hamilton, was also on hand and saw his son capture a podium finish. And that on Father's Day.
"He sacrificed everything for me to be here today. So I continue to try and make him proud. And I know how hard it was for him with everything that he faced because I was right there with him. But ultimate dream is always to be like your father. I want to be like my father," the seven-time Formula One world champion told a press conference after the race.
Hamilton in the Formula One world championship
The grateful Hamilton seems to be getting better and better with the W14 as the season progresses. Seemingly due to the updates to the Mercedes car. Partly as a result, Hamilton is now in fourth place in the 2023 world championship.
The number 44 driver has now built up a 34-point gap with Carlos Sainz. Fifteen points away, Fernando Alonso is third in the world championship. In early July, the Mercedes driver has another chance to score points, when the Austrian Grand Prix is scheduled.
