Sainz on Audi rumours: 'Only have contact with Ferrari'
- Cas van de Kleut
Recently, Carlos Sainz has been linked more often with a switch to Audi from 2026. The Ferrari driver himself denies to Motorsport.com that he has been in contact with any team other than Ferrari.
Sainz wants no ambiguity
Sainz's contract at the Italian racetrack expires at the end of 2024. The Spaniard himself would like to know before next season whether this stay will be extended: "I'm not going to lie, I don’t like going into my last year of a contract without really knowing where I'm racing the next year. I went through that process both with Red Bull and Renault, and I know it’s not ideal as an athlete, and as a driver. It's just not the right thing. And that's why I have put this winter as a reference to try and figure out my future."
Audi rumours
Rumours of a switch from Sainz to Audi have been swirling recently. The Spaniard himself says he has had no contact with the 2026 newcomer. He suspects it is clickbait or that smaller journalists want to get an ounce. However, the Ferrari driver does say that a move to Audi is not impossible, but that he is only talking to Ferrari at the moment.
