Wolff full of love about the Red Bull Ring: 'My home Grand Prix!'
The Mercedes team travels with a good feeling to Austria, where the next Grand Prix will be. It is a very special Grand Prix for team boss Toto Wolff, which he spoke about in a Mercedes press release.
The Grand Prix of Austria remains a special one for Wolff, with it being his home race, with the Mercedes team boss talking fondly about the Red Bull Ring: "I have good memories from the track, both with the team, but also from my early years racing there and teaching as an instructor. Austria is always a special weekend." The Austrian believes that Mercedes will perform well in Spielberg.
Sprint weekend
The Mercedes team boss is also curious to see how the sprint weekend will turn out this time. The last time Formula 1 ran an alternative weekend was in Baku. "It will be interesting to see the impact it has on the weekend at a more traditional circuit," Wolff stated. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix was a street race.
Last year in Austria, the Brackley-based team had a positive result, finishing third and fourth as Lewis Hamilton made the podium. Aston Martin also expects to find some more speed in Austria, with Fernando Alonso stating that his car will be quick in the Austrian mountains.
