Leclerc confirms negotiations with Ferrari: 'Am happy here'
Charles Leclerc's contract with Ferrari expires after the '24 season and no doubt there will be interest from other teams for the Monegasque. However, the five-time Grand Prix winner is happy with his current employer. The first, tentative talks on a new commitment have now started.
Earlier this year, team boss Fred Vasseur reported that getting round the table with Leclerc to secure a contract extension was not his priority. Unlike teammate Carlos Sainz - who is keen to know where his future lies before the start of next season - Leclerc is in little hurry. Nevertheless, the two sides have tentatively started talking, the Ferrari man revealed during a media moment at the Red Bull Ring.
Leclerc not really concerned with contract
"To be honest, it’s not really on my mind yet," Racer quoted Leclerc as saying. "When I say we ‘slowly’ started talking about it, it’s just here and there, but nothing special, nothing specific. Again, I feel like it’s a long way to go and I don’t feel it’s now the time to start talking about it."
Leclerc says he is happy with Ferrari, although the Monegasque cannot be satisfied with the current results. He says the team is working hard to improve. "I love Ferrari, so I’m happy here," he said.
