Windso saw Hamilton drive well despite a difficult day for Mercedes
Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton are not having a great weekend in Austria so far. In the sprint race, Russell finished eighth and Hamilton tenth. For Mercedes, it was anything but a good day in Austria. Peter Windsor sees this too.
Despite a nasty day for Mercedes, the 71-year-old British analyst saw Hamilton driving very well. He was surprised that the Englishman flew out as early as SQ1. "It was just a bizarre Lewis Hamilton that we saw today. He drove pretty well from where he was on the grid, but he did not look comfortable mixing it," Windsor said in an analysis on his YouTube channel.
Disappointment for Russell, Hamilton and Mercedes
"It's a disappointment, obviously, for them, for Mercedes, for Lewis, for George, for everybody, that the car isn't much better than it was this time last year. I say that because if it was a really, really well-balanced car with lots of grip, I'm not sure Lewis would have been making the sort of mistakes," Windsor said.
During the race on Sunday afternoon, both Mercedes have another chance, as they will be able to battle for points again. Hamilton will start in fifth place, while Russell will have to try from 11th.
