Verstappen laughs at competition: 'Loved all the articles'
Max Verstappen was once again unbeatable among the Austrian Alps. The Dutchman captured his fifth win in a row at the Red Bull Ring. Nobody seems to be able to come close to him. Not his teammate, but certainly not the competition either.
In fact, The two-time world champion in the RB19 had another 'free' pit stop at the end of the race over number two Charles Leclerc. The Dutchman thus had the chance to make another attempt at devouring the fastest race lap on the last lap on 'fresh' rubber. It was also clear in Spielberg that Ferrari had not yet managed to close the gap with the energy drink manufacturer, but so were rivals Aston Martin and Mercedes. They were even a bit behind the Italian racing team.
Verstappen has to smile
It was a striking sight, as the three rivals increasingly claimed in recent weeks that they believed that they were slowly closing the gap with Red Bull. Max Verstappen had to laugh when confronted with those claims at the post-race press conference. After all, the gap has not actually decreased, right? "Exactly. I loved all the articles [about it]," said the race winner.
