De Vries needs to improve but: 'It's a learning process'

During a Grand Prix weekend, regular topics crop up; Red Bull Racing's dominance, Mercedes' hopes of improvement and Nyck de Vries' future. AlphaTauri's Dutchman had hardly taken a step in England before he was already being asked questions about how sure he is of his seat with the Italian team.
With about three races left before the summer break, it is fair to say that these are going to be very important Grands Prix for De Vries. Yet - he tells the media at Silverstone - De Vries does not feel any extra pressure. "I think every day is about being the best of me and trying to perform as good as possible on track. It's July in summer, but apart from that, I don't really feel any different. I always try to be the best of myself and do the best possible job I can."
Updates for Silverstone
De Vries is also unlucky that his AlphaTauri is not a top car. For the British Grand Prix, the Italian team has also brought some updates. "We really hope that the update is bringing us a little bit more performance. I think the past two weekends have been a little bit tougher for us as a team. It's always a bit of an unknown to predict and expect how that will work out on track. Hopefully we'll find out soon and hopefully it will give us a little bit more to fight closer towards top 10. In all honesty, we don't know at this stage."
Still - De Vries believes - there are indications that an (admittedly) small step is going to be possible. Whether that will bring him closer to teammate Yuki Tsunoda? "In all honesty, I'm probably not fully satisfied with my own performance yet. I think I should still continue to do better. It's equally a learning process. One weekend is different than the other and sometimes I'm better than the other. Overall, I think I also need to put things a little bit better together. For example, in Barcelona I felt like the competitiveness was really good."
