Verstappen drives RB19 into wall but still takes pole: 'Minor incident'
Max Verstappen drove himself to pole position again in the RB19 after a largely dry qualifying session at Silverstone. Beforehand, there seemed to be a rather wet track for the drivers to drive on, but during the session, the track got drier and drier and gained grip. Verstappen also saw this.
"Of course, we knew that we had a quick car, so you don't risk it all the way to get through, but still that final lap, of course I had my little incident in the pits where I destroyed my front wing," Verstappen said.
Verstappen sends RB19 into the wall
The reigning world champion had his moment before the restart of Q1, as he hit the wall with the left side of his front wing as he could not fully steer in. The Red Bull driver recounted the moment in the pit lane.
"Yeah, I had a bit of understeer out of the box, too much rear grip. So yeah, I had to take a new front wing, but that meant of course that I was in the back to start that final run and it was quite exciting."
