Lammers sees Verstappen as a team player: 'Perez commands his respect'
- Sam Godber
There is no measure of Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen at the moment. The Dutchman is winning race after race and conquering at least 25 points almost every week in the battle for the world championship. In the NOS Formula 1 Podcast, former Formula 1 driver Jan Lammers explains the relationship between the two Red Bull drivers.
"Look, Verstappen seems very indifferent towards his teammate. He doesn't seem to give a shit. That's true, but the moment Perez is faster in qualifying, in those few times it has happened, then you can see with Max that he is a team player. That is then just because Perez commands his respect," Lammers said.

"Verstappen is definitely a team player, but then you have to be at his level," said Lammers, who recently proclaimed that DRS should be abolished in Formula 1.
Teammate Perez seems to struggle at times to keep up with Verstappen and finish second. He gets a lot of criticism from people who think the Mexican is performing too poorly. There were also rumours in which the 33-year-old driver would be replaced by Daniel Ricciardo.
