Formula E driver Mitch Evans has won the sun-drenched Rome ePrix. Saturday's race was mainly marked by the huge temperatures in the Italian capital and a mega-crash that took place at the hands of Sam Bird. Jake Dennis lost his first place in the championship to Nick Cassidy.

Evans managed to win for the fourth time in his career in the Italian capital. It was only his ninth win in his Formula E career. Dennis was still in first place a few laps before the end of the race, but the Briton eventually finished fourth in the final results.

Megacrash in Rome

A megacrash took place during the ninth lap. Maserati driver Edoardo Mortara landed in the wall, stopping him in the middle of the track. Dutch driver Robin Frijns and Swiss driver Sebastien Buemi crashed into him, causing pieces of the cars to all end up on the track in Rome. Both were unable to finish the race.

The weekend in Rome involves a double header so on Sunday afternoon the Formula E drivers will have another chance to rack up points. Of the 22 drivers, only 13 crossed the line because of the huge crash. The question is whether any cars will not start tomorrow because of the huge crash.
