Vasseur confident heading to Hungary: 'Hoping for pole position'

Next weekend the Hungarian Grand Prix is on the programme. The Hungaroring is a unique circuit with especially many slow corners. Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur thinks his team will have a better showing in Hungary than other weekends because of the track's characteristics.
Ferrari is having a disappointing season so far. The Italian team has only managed to score two podiums and has not come close to a win yet. On Saturday, the speed is reasonable, with Charles Leclerc twice fastest in the two qualifying sessions in Azerbaijan. On Sunday, however, the SF-23 is unpredictable and thus difficult to drive, and Ferrari is trying to improve that as soon as possible.
Hungaroring must suit Ferrari
The layout of the F1 circuit should suit the 2023 Ferrari. "I can say that we are better in the slow corners and the 90-degree corners than in the fast corners, at least that is what we have seen so far. We can hope for a pole position. The wind could also be an important factor," Vasseur told Motorsport.com.
Spa also good for Ferrari?
Immediately after the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, Formula 1 will travel to Spa-Francorchamps. The circuit through the Ardennes in Belgium has hugely long straights and that should suit the SF-23 as well, Vasseur argues. "Spa could also be a circuit that suits the characteristics of our car well. There you have the Bus Stop chicane and la Source [slow corners], among others, and there are only two high-speed corners."
