Hamilton: 'Hopefully we'll be closer to the group this weekend'
- Cas van de Kleut
The Mercedes is running better and better. The German team managed to grab a podium at Silverstone with Lewis Hamilton, extending its lead over number two Aston Martin to 22 points. Yet a privateer of the points was lurking, as McLaren managed to surprise with a second and a fourth place in Britain.
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri surprised everyone with their fantastic qualifying at the Silverstone circuit. As if it wasn't enough, the weekend was almost rewarded with a double podium for the Woking-based team. However, Hamilton just grabbed third place ahead of Piastri, leaving only Norris on the podium.
Hamilton expects improvement in Hungary GP
Hamilton already complimented his old team's progression after the Silverstone race. However, the Hungaroring is a very different circuit to Silverstone. "I think the McLaren was much quicker than us in the high speed but we were quicker in the low speed. This is mostly low speed and medium speed so hopefully we will be at least closer to the group and we've been working on the car constantly. It was good for us here last year so I'm really hoping it's good this weekend," the Mercedes driver told Sky Sports F1.
