Perez is honest after crash in FP1: "Just a mistake on my part"
Sergio Perez's race weekend in Hungary started disastrously. The second free practice session was not even five minutes old when the Mexican hit the wall. Perez showed some remorse after the second free practice session.
"It was just a mistake on my part," Perez revealed immediately after the second free practice session in Hungary, according to Motorsport-total.com. Perez hit the grass before entering the corner and lost control of his car. FP1 was thus over for Perez. Fortunately for him, there was hardly any driving by the other drivers in the rain.
Perez still in action
Miraculously, Perez was still able to get into action in the second free practice, thanks to good work from his mechanics. "The guys did a great job of getting that car ready again for FP2. As a result, at least we have some data to look at," the Mexican stated.
Perez recorded only the 18th fastest time in the second free practice and, like Verstappen, also drove few laps. Verstappen indicated that Red Bull Racing had deliberately chosen this, but for Perez, who will be keen to gain some confidence, it was not ideal.
