Marko on Verstappen's drive: 'He always wants to win'
Max Verstappen and his RB19 car were once again unbeatable during the race in Hungary. On Saturday, the Dutchman was heavily dissatisfied with his car's performance after qualifying. He was extremely satisfied after the race. Helmut Marko told ServusTV where he thinks the positive reaction came from.
Verstappen had bad conscience'
"I think he had a bit of a bad conscience after yesterday," said Red Bull Racing's top adviser. "Verstappen and his engineer are well and truly a married couple who sometimes argue about small things. Yes, the car was not perfect, but if he had secured a pole, it would have been okay. But that's Verstappen, he always wants to be at the front and win, that's why he's such an exceptional driver."
Marko is positive about Perez after catching up
Sergio Perez also drove a very strong race. The Mexican started the race from P9 but was eventually allowed to take P3 on the podium. Marko says: "For him, it is of course, a confidence boost. He drove super lap times, only at the end we were still hoping he could attack Norris, but when overtaking the backmarkers he went off the racing line, putting a lot of rubber on his tyres. The tyres were good, but the rubber prevented him from running good times. But it shows he can do it, he just needs nerves and concentration in qualifying."
