'With the right car at McLaren, Norris isn't going anywhere else'
- Toby McLuskie
McLaren CEO Zak Brown is confident that Lando Norris will extend his stay at McLaren. Despite numerous rumours of interest from other teams, Brown sees enough leads to tie Norris to the team for a longer period. In an interview with Sky Sports, he outlines what he believes is needed to achieve this.
McLaren making progress
Despite a very sluggish start to the season, the McLaren team has suddenly been competing fully for podium places over the last few races. Starting from the Austrian Grand Prix, the team brought large-scale updates that are also paying off. Lando Norris managed to finish second at Silverstone and at the Hungaroring. His teammate Oscar Piastri also had strong races, but did not yet manage to finish on the podium.
Norris is regularly linked with other teams, but Zak Brown sees a bright future. "I think the way you keep him is you give him a good race car," said the McLaren CEO. This seems to be working fine for now, which makes Brown hopeful. "And as long as we can give him a good race car, he loves the environment, he loves the team, he's been on this journey." In addition, Brown also looks back with satisfaction at the progress the team has made: "Obviously we were all a bit frustrated at the start of the year, but now two seconds on the trot, he's qualified fifth, second and third. So I think as long as we keep doing that, then he'll stick around."
