Max Verstappen triumphs again in F1 Power Rankings

Max Verstappen delivered a sterling performance in Hungary and this has not escaped the notice of the journalists at the official Formula 1 website. They rewarded the reigning world champion in the so-called Power Rankings with the highest rating of the 20 drivers. This further consolidates the Dutchman's leading position in the rankings.
For his dominant win at the Hungaroring, Verstappen fell just short of a perfect score. Verstappen had to settle with 'only' a 9.6. Possibly a factor was that Verstappen did not conquer the pole. During the Grand Prix on Sunday, however, there was no stopping the Red Bull Racing man. "when you look at the fact that he won in Budapest by 33 seconds, it looks easy. But it was not," the journalists write.
Norris a good second, ahead of Piastri
There was a good second place for Lando Norris, who also finished the Grand Prix as number two. The McLaren Briton earned a 9.4 for his performance. That put Norris well ahead of the man who finished third in the Power Rankings this week; his teammate Oscar Piastri. The Australian failed to cash in on his good start to the race with a podium finish, but that was due to a problem on his floor. Nevertheless, a fine 8.2 for Piastri.
Lewis Hamilton - who had by far the most fan support at the Hungaroring - managed to show on Saturday that, with the right equipment, he is still someone to be seriously reckoned with. The most successful F1 driver of all time took his 104th pole of his career, but a day later he too was no match for the Red Bulls ánd Norris. In the Power Rankings, Hamilton had to settle - as in the race - with fourth place.
Verstappen remains leader
In the overall standings of the season, Verstappen of course remains the leader. Over the season as a whole, the Dutchman has a 9.2. That is exactly one point more than direct pursuer Fernando Alonso. Hamilton is third with a 7.9.
