Ferrari team boss: 'We are also in battle with Sergio Perez'

Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur had a solid weekend with his team at Spa-Francorchamps. Driver Charles Leclerc even finished on the podium. The Frenchman is happy with his team's performance.

Carlos Sainz also could have finished high in the points had he not been touched by McLaren driver Oscar Piastri at turn one. After all, Ferrari had the speed. "I am very happy," said Vasseur. "We were strong all weekend, in all conditions." Ferrari is inconsistent. One race weekend, the Italians lead the group behind Max Verstappen, and the next, they dangle at the bottom. "We need to start understanding why we are better at one circuit than another," says the team boss.

'Also battling Perez'

"It is so close between P2 and P11 that track characteristics, tyre management or differences in downforce, choices you make at the beginning of the weekend, [can make a big difference.]" The Ferrari man confirmed that Sergio Perez is also part of the group that Ferrari is battling with. "Yeah, I say P2 to P11," he said.
