Ferrari CEO: 'We work day and night to make the car more competitive'
Formula 1 teams' factories are currently closed. Teams are absolutely not allowed to let their staff work, the summer break is meant to allow everyone to switch off for a few weeks. At Ferrari, they no doubt want to get back to work soon, as the Italian team has some catching up to do. In the year after Charles Leclerc became vice-world champion, fourth place among constructors does not live up to expectations.
Ferrari is, of course, the pride of Italy. So when the car brand presents its quarterly figures, Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari's CEO, will get óquestions about the Formula 1 team. "In some recent races, like last weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, we have seen signs of improvement. It is clear that we want to keep improving and we are working day and night to make our car more competitive," Vigna said in conversation with financial analysts, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport.
Ferrari wants to keep working hard
Ferrari had secretly hoped to become a serious threat to Red Bull Racing in 2024, the Austrian team that has been closing a huge gap with the Italians since the middle of last season. In reality, thanks to Leclerc, Ferrari managed to grab second place once and third place twice. The team did not come close to a victory.
Vigna thinks this setback is an extra motivator. "Racing is part of our DNA, and more than ever, an incentive to continue innovating. We should always want to move forward, that's what we should always keep doing in the spirit of our founder, full of confidence and humility. That is also how we started this F1 World Championship, but we are less competitive than we expected."
