Leclerc on Vasseur's influence: 'New mindset within team'
- Toby McLuskie
The season does not quite want to flow yet at Ferrari. Team boss Fréderic Vasseur started his new position as team principal at the Scuderia at the beginning of 2023, but really good results are yet to come. In an interview with GPblog Charles Leclerc backs his team boss and names where Vasseur currently stands.
Vasseur is a close acquaintance of Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque had previously worked under the team boss at Alfa Romeo and in various junior classes. Asked how the new team boss is adapting within the team, the Monegasque replied: "He's adapting really well. I mean, Ferrari is definitely a different beast than Alfa Romeo. Many more people involved, a lot more pressure. But Fred straight away understood what the areas were where we should work on. And yes, he definitely makes a difference."
New mindset within Ferrari
Leclerc sees that Vasseur is currently implementing a new mindset within the team. He knows it will take time to implement it, but the Monegasque is giving his team boss all the time in this. "He's slowly implementing this new mindset, which I think is positive and will make a difference in the long term. But it's also his first season within the team, so we need to give him time in order to see these changes take form on track," Leclerc said.
